RACE Programming vs SAFe

SAFe scales the headcount; RACE removes the need for it
SAFe is a rational answer to a real constraint: when scope is large and each unit of software needs a person to build it, you end up with many teams, and many teams need heavy machinery to stay aligned. Program Increments, Agile Release Trains, and PI Planning exist to batch and synchronize that coordination so a large organization can move in one direction.
When AI shifts engineering economics by an order of magnitude, the premise changes. The scope that once needed a train of 50 to 125 people can be delivered by a few senior micro-teams, so the coordination problem SAFe is built to manage largely dissolves. RACE Programming is prescriptive like SAFe, but it prescribes AI-native delegation and validation, not multi-team synchronization. The lever is not orchestrating more people better; it is needing far fewer of them.

The triangle moves
Scope, time, and budget are the three sides of every project; quality is the area inside, fixed, never a lever. You set two sides, and RACE Programming moves the third.
